Nestbox Day 2024
Longwood East Landcare, in collaboration with Creightons Creek Landcare, recently hosted a Nestbox Building Day – a hands-on and informative event all about supporting local wildlife. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the importance of nestboxes, the species that use them, and how they can help replace lost tree hollows in the landscape.
Guest speaker Bertram Lobert delivered an engaging presentation, sharing his extensive knowledge about habitat loss, wildlife conservation, and best practices for nestbox design and placement. Attendees then rolled up their sleeves to construct their own nestboxes to take home, ready to install on their properties.
This project was proudly supported through funding from the Landcare Australia / AusNet grant, helping local communities take practical steps to enhance biodiversity and provide much-needed shelter for native species.
