The group was formed in the mid 80’s and these guidelines were developed:
- Encourage sustainable land management practices.
- Actively deal with problems of land degradation and salinity in the Sheep Pen Creek area.
- Foster appreciation for the landscape and environment in the community.
- Coordinate activities taken to preserve the environment.
- Provide information and organize field days for members and others to deal with the problems of land degradation and salinity.
The group continues today with our guiding principles unchanged.
Current projects include:
- Managing Chilean needle Grass in our district.
- Promoting sustainable farming practices.
- Encouraging re-vegetation in the area.
- Promotion of community cohesiveness
