This workshop is essential for all livestock owners or managers who need to update or develop a farm biosecurity plan

  • Are you a hobby farmer with a few animals of your own, but don’t yet have a plan?
  • Are you agisting animals on your property for someone else and aren’t sure what your obligations are?
  • Have you heard about ‘Foot and Mouth Disease’ and don’t know what it means for you?
  • Have you seen biosecurity signs on farm gates, but don’t know where to get them?

For the answers to these questions and more, this workshop will cover the biosecurity essential for owners and managers of livestock.

9:30am (for 10am start) – 3:00 pm, Saturday 6 August 2022

Kirstie Anderson, Technical Specialist with Agriculture Victoria will take participants though Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) and Biosecurity Plan templates.

Australia’s National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) livestock transfers will be demonstrated.

Following lunch, Dr Bill Sykes, Veterinarian/ Animal Health and Production Consultant specialising in management of Regional and National Animal Disease Control Programs and Research and Development Programs will discuss emerging biosecurity threats and lessons for landholders from past disease outbreaks.
