We are running a series of workshops across Victoria to help producers and livestock agents with the requirement to record livestock movements on the NLIS database.
This is an important part of the move to introduce electronic identification of sheep and goats, leading to improved traceability. Producers and livestock agents are vital in safeguarding the industry from the potential impacts of disease and food safety emergencies.
From 31 March 2018, property-to-property movements of electronically tagged sheep and goats in Victoria must be recorded on the NLIS database by the person receiving the livestock.
Workshop topics will include:
Agriculture Victoria specialist staff will be in attendance to assist producers with accessing and using their NLIS database account.
These workshops are also relevant to beef producers interested in refreshing their knowledge of property-to-property movements requirements and transfers on the NLIS database.
