  • Who wants to better understand their soils ?
  • Who wants to grow better pasture ?
  • Who wants happier healthier livestock ?
  • Who wants to gain better control of weeds ?
Over the past 10 years Strathbogie Tableland Landcare Group has been running trials to determine:
  • which grasses and plants grow best in our Tableland environment,
  • how much grazing is overgrazing
  • how different rates of lime impact our soils
  • the benefits of growing fodder trees
  • the benefit of various fertilisers to our soils
On Sunday 8th October Strathbogie Landcare is running a 2 hour “Pasture Establishment and Weed Control Field Day” at the Strathbogie Recreation Reserve in Spring Creek Road to answer most of these questions. We don’t have all the answers but we certainly have some interesting results to show for our work over these past years. In many cases, landowners are trying to ‘reinvent the wheel’ when our local Landcare group has already done a lot of the work. So, rather than guessing or doing nothing, and/or wasting money, come along on Sunday 8th October from 10.30 to 12.30 (with lunch provided) and speak to local farmers, agronomists and local contractors who have been dealing with pastures and weeds for years. I think you’ll be surprised at how much useful and locally relevant information you can obtain. The day is free to attend but we need you to register so we have numbers for catering.
