Soil test interpretation and nutrient budgeting for beef and sheep farmers

Hosted by Agriculture Victoria, project partners Gecko Clan Landcare Network

GrazFert is a farm nutrient management program that enables beef and sheep farmers to make better fertiliser decisions.

It provides an opportunity for farmers to access independent support and advice for their soil and pasture management.

Program presenters discuss a number of topics at two workshops, including:

  • provides 2 soil and 2 feed tests
  • interpreting soil tests and feed test results
  • pasture management and ground cover
  • minimising nutrient losses and erosion
  • reducing soil acidity, and
  • maximising soil health from fertilizer and lime inputs.

 What’s involved?

  • Farm visit, pasture walk and soil sampling of 2 paddocks and feed testing of pastures
  • Attendance at two local workshops focused on soil test interpretation and nutrient budgeting
  • Preparation of a Farm Nutrient Plan.
  • Program is Free

Soil sampling and Pasture sampling will be done with farmer and Greg Bekker in September by appointment.
