Gooram Landcare is a community group dedicated to protecting and enhancing our environmental heritage. Through local projects, workshops, and hands-on conservation activities, Gooram Landcare brings together landholders and community members to restore native habitats, improve biodiversity, and promote sustainable land management practices. By fostering collaboration and environmental stewardship, the group helps ensure a healthy and resilient landscape for current and future generations.

Gooram Landcare recently hosted a Paddock Tree Day with guest presenter Ron Litjens, who shared valuable insights into the crucial role paddock trees play in our landscapes – particularly as providers of hollows and essential habitat for native wildlife. Participants also received tree guards to help protect young trees on their own properties. The day concluded with a visit to a local site, where Ron highlighted key features of healthy paddock trees and discussed their long-term importance for biodiversity and farm productivity.

The Gooram area features fertile valleys and creek flats frequently traversed by watercourses and smaller valleys running from the steep granite ridges that characterise the Strathbogie ranges. There is evidence of ancient volcanic activity along the valley of the Seven Creeks with basalt cones visible in a number of places. Generally though, the geology features heavily weathered granite ridges and outcrops, many of which are quite striking. The Gooram Falls on the Seven Creeks is a feature of particular beauty and interest and after rain provides an impressive spectacle.
The Gooram Valley Landcare Group are currently calling for expressions of interest for re-vegetation project funding. PleaseĀ see the website for details.
